During the several weeks of the piano restoration while it is drying, wedges are slowly pushed in between the structure and the soundboard.
Jacks are often used with the wood wedges to recreate the original soundboard crown.
With the right chisel the cracks are brought to the angle matching the chosen shim wich is then tightly fitted and glued in.
